During the months of August and September, two of our grandchildren flew over for just over two weeks, and then we drove back to the UK spending two nights on the way through Spain to Bilbao, the first night was in Burgos, the second in Bilbao, then one night on the boat the (Pride of Bilbao). During there stay we visited lots of places, and we went to a couple of our friends homes, and I cooked a Paella, on both occasions, we all had a lovely time getting wet in the swimming pools, (and a little sun-burned as well), Ricky had a couple of driving lessons and driving on the right hand side of the road seemed to make no difference to him at all, he took to it like a duck to water, (well done lad).
When we got back to the UK, I had my usual computer jobs to do (I enjoy it), then Ann and myself went to visit some of our friends (we never seem to get to see them all) we managed to see Mike and Mary up in Llandudno, and cousin Maureen, and her Mom up in Lancashire, quite few locally, all the ones that we never got to see we will try next year, that includes, Tony & Hilly, Alan & Kate, Dave & Janice, Ted & Joan etc etc, (sorry).
For a combined birthday treat we had a day on the Orient Express, which we shared a table with two lovely people, Graham & Lesley, love to you both and thanks for such good company. We went from Chester to Oxford, then had two hours at Waddeston Manor, home of the Rothschild’s now run by the National Trust, What a fantastic place, my few photographs (I was not allowed to take any inside) do not do it justice, so go and have a look yourself, then we returned to Chester, It was a fabulous day out, we were welcomed aboard with a champagne & peach cocktail, then we had brunch Fresh fruit cocktail, scrambled eggs wrapped in smoked salmon, on a warm buttered crumpet, with Whitby crab, hollandaise, tomato and chives, etc etc. and on the return we were served dinner which was equally scrumptious.
Then on the trip back to Spain we had two nights on the boat, and one night on the way through Spain at a place called Getafe, in a suburb, south east of Madrid.
Well that’s all for this month.
Steve & Ann.
